It’s one of the most anticipated films of the year and it’s safe to say that Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut, A Star Is Born did not disappoint.
After making it’s North American debut at the Toronto Film Festival last month, Cooper’s movie that has now been remade for a fourth time is building momentum to be a front runner during the upcoming award season.
To fuel the fire, Warner Brothers held a very exclusive intimate reception during TIFF for the BFCA (Broadcast Film Critics Association) which I am a member, at the Fairmont Hotel in Toronto.
Cooper alongside some of his very talented cast including the one and only Lady Gaga, Sam Elliot and Anthony Ramos chatted with the critics about the film for close to an hour and were more than gracious when it came time to taking a few pictures.
It was clear that Bradley is enamoured and extremely proud of his leading lady, giving her the spotlight and hanging on to her every word. The feeling was mutual from Gaga as she continuously praised Cooper as a director and was completely blown away by him as a musician.
Veteran actor Sam Elliot - gracious as always - and who might just wind up with a best supporting Oscar nod for his role said it was one of the best experiences he's had making a movie in his entire career. Anthony Ramos who was brilliant in the Broadway production of Hamilton is someone we are going to be seeing a lot of on the big screen. ( He also stars in Monsters and Men which premiered at TIFF as well.)
A Star Is Born centres around veteran musician Jackson Maine ( Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). With Jackson’s help Ally makes her way into the spotlight the personal side of their relationship becomes quite messy as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
A Star Is Born opens in theatres on October 5th.
