THE OTHER BLACK GIRL - INTERVIEW WITH ASHLEIGH MURRAY

From executive producer Rashida Jones check out the new series, THE OTHER BLACK GIRL starring Ashleigh Murray and Sinclair Daniel.

Based on the New York Times bestseller by Zakiya Dalila Harris, THE OTHER BLACK GIRL follows Nella, an editorial assistant, who is tired of being the only Black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel (Ashleigh Murray) is hired. But as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.

The series stars Sinclair Daniel, Ashleigh Murray, Brittany Adebumola, Hunter Parrish, Bellamy Young (Scandal), Eric McCormack (Will and Grace), and Garcelle Beauvais (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey serve as co-showrunners for the Hulu original from Onyx Collective.

Ashleigh Murray is rapidly emerging as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after talents. She most recently starred as fan favorite Zenzi in The CW’s TOM SWIFT. Murray can also be seen as Josie McCoy on The CW’s Riverdale which was loosely based off the Archie comic series.

She then went on to reprise her role as Josie McCoy in The CW’s Katy Keeneopposite Lucy Hale. The show followed a group of aspiring artists living in New York City. Murray’s other television credits include Alex, Inc., Younger, and The Following.

Her film credits include MGM’s Valley Girl musical remake, opposite Mae Whitman and Peyton List, and Netflix’s Deidra & Laney Rob a Train which premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The movie was nominated for Sundance Film Festival’s Audience Award.

I spoke with the lovely and talented Ashleigh Murray about the series and what it was like getting into Hazel’s mindset to play this very juicy role.
