THE TOWER 2: DEATH MESSAGE - CATCHING UP WITH STARS JIMMY AKINGBOLA and TAHIRAH SHARIF

From the Executive Producer of Homeland and 24 comes the World Premiere of Season Two of the Critically-Acclaimed British Crime Drama The Tower 2: Death Message

Based on the second of Kate London’s best Selling Novel series, BritBox will launch the world premiere of gripping crime drama The Tower 2: Death Message from May 16. The four-episode thriller is returning for a second season, airing weekly on BritBox, following its 2021 hit first instalment, The Tower, also available on the service.

The critically-acclaimed crime drama is written and executive produced by Patrick Harbinson (HOMELAND, 24), from the best-selling book by Kate London. It stars Gemma Whelan (GAME OF THRONES, GENTLEMAN JACK), Jimmy Akingbola (BEL-AIR, TED LASSO), Tahirah Sharif (THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, A CHRISTMAS PRINCE), BAFTA Television Award-nominated for her performance in season one.

Following the dramatic climax of season one, rookie Police Constable Lizzie Adama (Sharif) has returned to Farlow police station where she finds herself fighting to protect a mother and daughter in peril. Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Sarah Collins (Whelan) has transferred to Homicide Command. When she is tasked with re-opening a cold case of a missing schoolgirl, her investigations take an unexpected turn, leading her to cross paths with Lizzie once again.

Following Lizzie and Sarah’s antagonistic relationship, they are forced to work together for the first time. Detective Inspector Kieran Shaw (Scanlan) wants to recruit Detective Sergeant Steve Bradshaw (Akingbola) for a specialist task force, targeting a major organized crime figure, but he must convince Steve he can be trusted. This latest season promises another complex, authentic and topical crime story that will keep audiences gripped.

Jimmy Akingbola can currently be seen to reprise his coveted role of ‘Geoffrey’, trusted advisor to Phil and the Banks family and the link back to his humble roots in the UK in season 2 of BEL-AIR, the acclaimed serialized one-hour dramatic analogue of the '90s sitcom THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR. Just recently, ITV released his 'powerful’ and ‘beautifully told' documentary HANDLE WITH CARE. In this deeply personal, Jimmy traces his own journey and, in doing so, uncovers the truth about growing up in the care system in England. Deadline cited the documentary as a ‘heart-wrenching, emotional and educational journey’ while The Guardian called it ‘profoundly moving’.

Tahirah Sharif is a BAFTA-nominated British actor of Pakistani and Jamaican heritage, with multiple credits to her name. Currently audiences can see her co-leading Sky’s original new drama as ‘Cindy Carter’ in ‘A Town Called Malice,’ written by Nick Love and also starring Jack Rowan, Martha Plimpton and Jason Flemyng. Also in television Tahirah is well known for her role of ‘Miss Rebecca Jessel’ in the Netflix series ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’, which was a follow-up to the American anthology horror drama series ‘The Haunting of Hill House’.
