A Little Help with Carol Burnett - Russell Peters Interview
/Everyone's favourite ear-tugging comedian is back on the small screen. Carol Burnett returns to TV in "A Little Help With Carole Burnett," a funny and endearing series exclusively on Netflix.
On the show Burnett is joined by a group of the most honest and unfiltered people in the world – a gaggle of straight talking, entertaining 5-9 year old kids. These very opinionated “experts” weigh-in on a variety of relatable and humorous dilemmas brought in by everyday adults.
Each episode will feature a celebrity contributor brave enough to bring in their own dilemma for the kids to comment on in front of a live audience.
The show is co-hosted by Canada's own comedian Russell Peters who has become one of this Country's best known stand up comedians.
Russell grew up in Brampton, Ontario, the first member of his family to be born in Canada. When he started doing stand-up, he talked about his Indian heritage, and how South Asian and Asian culture fit in North American society. Like the best stand-ups, Russell sometimes made people uncomfortable, but the response was huge, all over the world. He now performs around the world which includes taped a special at London's O2 Arena in front of 30,000 fans.
These days, Russell has entered a new phase of his life: married, with a young daughter, and a growing acting career ( with stand up specials NOW airing on Netflix).
Peters who grew up watching The Carol Burnett show was literally dumbstruck when he discovered that he would be co-hosting with the legendary comedian. Burnett was and IS his comedy idol and Peters jumped at the opportunity to be able to work with her on this innovative new series.
In addition to having Peters on board, each episode includes a number of celebrity guests ( Julie Bowen, Candace Cameron Bure, Mark Cuban, Billy Eichner, Taraji P. Henson, Derek Hough, DJ Khaled, Lisa Kudrow, Brittany Snow, Wanda Sykes, and Finn Wolfhard) who pop in to get advice from the kids.
A Little Help with Carol Burnett will premiere on May 4, 2018. Netflix will release all 12 half-hour episodes at once.
I had the opportunity to chat with the one and only Russell Peters about working on the series and how privileged he feels being able to work alongside Carol Burnett.
