HELLO, LOVE, AGAIN is a sequel to the 2019 smash hit, HELLO, LOVE, GOODBYE
HELLO, LOVE, GOODBYE grossed a whopping $33.3 million worldwide and remains the second-highest-grossing Filipino film. Pre-sale tickets in the Philippines for HELLO, LOVE, AGAIN have already reached approximately $800,000 and counting.
Hello, Love, Again reunites the destined lovers but not without problems. Determined to fulfil their promise to be together again, Ethan (Alden Richards), in Hong Kong, and Joy (Kathryn Bernardo), in Canada, strive to improve their lives. However, as the strength of their love is tested by distance, time, and unforeseen circumstances, they decide to part ways.
Years later, they unexpectedly say their hellos once more and this time in Canada. As they rediscover each other, they navigate the complexities of their new lives, finding romance and rekindling their connection amidst the changes.
Five years after the box-office success of Hello, Love, Goodbye, the Management recognized that there are still a lot of stories waiting to be told. With so many more experiences of Filipinos working and living abroad now, it felt like the perfect moment to explore these narratives once again. This time, the production company wanted to venture into a new part of the world, bringing a fresh perspective and a new layer of romance to enrich the story. The film is directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana who directed the first film.
About the leads….
Kathryn Bernardo's journey in the entertainment industry began when she was just a young girl, and her passion and talent quickly became evident. She first caught the public's eye with her roles in television, but it was her incredible performances on the big screen that truly showcased her range and depth as an actress.
Last year, Kathryn took on a new challenge with A Very Good Girl, a black comedy thriller where she starred alongside the talented Dolly de Leon. Her portrayal in this film received significant praise, highlighting her versatility and ability to excel in diverse roles. Kathryn's previous films, The Hows of Us and Hello, Love, Goodbye, have been particularly noteworthy. Hello, Love, Goodbye made history as one of the highest- grossing films in Philippine cinema, earning over 800 million pesos.
These successes have solidified her reputation as one of the country's most bankable and beloved stars. Her remarkable career has not gone unnoticed. People Asia honored her with the title of "Box Office Queen," reflecting her extraordinary impact at the box office. Internationally, she was celebrated as the Outstanding Asian Star at the Seoul International Drama Awards. Kathryn also won the FAMAS Award for Best Actress for her role in A Very Good Girl, a testament to her skill and dedication.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kathryn is admired for her genuine personality and philanthropic efforts. She uses her platform to support important causes, making a positive impact both in the entertainment world and her community. Kathryn Bernardo continues to inspire and captivate audiences, and her journey is a true testament to her talent, hard work, and heart.
Alden Richards has captured the hearts of many through his incredible journey in the entertainment industry. His rise to fame started with modest beginnings, where his talent and charm quickly made him a standout in television roles. Over time, Alden's dedication and hard work paid off, leading him to become one of the most beloved actors in the Philippines.
Recently, Alden took on a powerful role in A Mother’s Love, a film that showcased his ability to dive deep into complex emotions. His performance resonated strongly with both critics and audiences, highlighting his growth and versatility as an actor.
Alden's film career includes major hits like Hello, Love, Goodbye and Imagine You and Me. Hello, Love, Goodbye was particularly memorable, not only for its massive box office success but also for its heartfelt storytelling. Alden's role in Imagine You and Me also won praise for its engaging and relatable portrayal. These successes underscore his knack for connecting with audiences and bringing genuine emotion to his roles.
His achievements haven't gone unnoticed. Alden was honored with the "Box Office King" title by several award bodies, a testament to his significant impact and popularity. He also received the Best Actor Award at the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for his role in Family of Two affirming his talent and dedication. Outside of his acting career, Alden is known for his generosity and community spirit. He actively supports various charitable causes, demonstrating his commitment to giving back and making a positive impact on others' lives.
Alden Richards continues to shine both on and off the screen. His journey is not just a story of success, but also one of heartfelt connections and making a difference. His genuine personality and impressive career make him a true standout in the world of entertainment.
I spoke with both Kathryn and Alden about the new film, reuniting to play these characters again and how their friendship has grown since the first film.

It’s been a few year’s since Elijah Wood shot the Lord of The Rings in New Zealand, but the actor could not resist the temptation to return to the stunning location to shoot his new film, Bookworm.
Wood reunites with his Come to Daddy director Ant Timpson for the leading role in the filmmaker's first expedition into the adventure-comedy genre. Bookworm is a family adventure focusing on 12-year-old Mildred ( played wonderfully by Nell Fisher ) whose life is upended following the hospitalization of her mother.
With no one else to care for her, Mildred's "American magician father, Strawn Wise (Wood)," is tasked with caring for his bookish pre-teen daughter. In an attempt to keep her entertained — and her mind off her ailing mother — Strawn plans a camping trip into the New Zealand wilderness.
Timpson says the story is like ".. an escapist 70s cinema we grew up with, non-pandering cinema where adults and kids enjoyed all the onscreen shenanigans equally." The script takes a turn into whimsy when the pair embark on a quest to discover the "mythological beast known as the Canterbury Panther," though Mildred bears only camping knowledge, sans experience, and Strawn is less accustomed to the Southern Alps than the Las Vegas Strip.
The chemistry between Wood and Fisher is undeniebly real and gives a true family feel to the film. Now that Elijah Wood is a dad, his real life experience is clearly shown in this film.
I had the opportunity to chat with Elijah Wood and Director Ant TImpson about working together again, having the film debut at the Fantasia Film Festival and shooting in New Zealand.
BOOKWORM opens theatrically across Canada October 18, 2024
