LUCY BOYNTON DISCUSSES HER NEW MINI-SERIES, A CRUEL LOVE: THE RUTH ELLIS STORY

Attention true crime fans. The notorious hidden story of the trial that changed history can be seen in the new BritBox Original four part Mini Series, A CRUEL LOVE: THE RUTH ELLIS STORY. It stars
Lucy Boynton, as the last woman hanged in Britain.

A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story is a compelling true crime drama telling the hidden story of Ruth Ellis and exposing the timeless British obsessions of class, sex and death. Set in 1955 in the glamorous and intoxicating world of London club-land, Ruth found acclaim, aged 28, as the capital's youngest club manager.

But her success soon unraveled as she became entwined in an abusive relationship with racing driver David Blakely. On trial for his murder, Ruth was condemned to die by a system which judged her for far more than her crime. The series stars Lucy Boynton as ambitious, brave and steadfast Ruth Ellis, the last woman hanged in Britain, as well as Toby Jones, Laurie Davidson, Mark Stanley, and Bessie Carter.

Lucy Boynton is a dazzling talent whose affable poise and enigmatic performances are making an indelible mark across entertainment. She made her breakthrough as the female lead in John Carney’s SING STREET, opposite Ferdia Walsh-Peelo. Boynton starred alongside Rami Malek in the 2019 Golden Globe Award-winning BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. In 2022, Lucy starred in THE PALE BLUE EYE for Netflix, opposite Christian Bale and Harry Melling.

Additional film credits include LOCKED DOWN, opposite Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor; Kenneth Branagh’s MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS; and her first feature film role was as young Beatrix Potter in Chris Noonan’s MISS POTTER, for which she received a nomination for Best Supporting Young Actress in a Feature Film at the Young Artist Awards.

A Cruel Love Premieres Monday, February 17th on BritBox
