ALL RISE - NEW SEASON ON OWN - SIMONE MISSICK AND WILSON BETHEL INTERVIEW
/Court is Back in Session! The Popular Courtroom Drama ALL RISE (Formerly on CBS) Returns for a Brand-New Season on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network
Following its two-season run on CBS, the Image Award-nominated courtroom drama All Rise returns for a 20-episode third season on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network beginning Tuesday, June 7. All Rise follows the chaotic lives of judges, prosecutors and public defenders who pursue justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal system. The show follows newly appointed Judge Lola Carmichael (Simone Missick who also executive produces the new season), a highly regarded former deputy district attorney who pushes the boundaries of what a judge can be. Wilson Bethel (Daredevil, Hart of Dixie) co-stars as Mark Callan, the Deputy District Attorney of Los Angeles who is also Judge Carmichael’s best friend.
The new season picks up six months after the events of the sophomore finale and brings about all-new beginnings. On election night, Judge Carmichael awaits the results of her campaign; Emily (Jessica Camacho) returns from Puerto Rico with renewed drive and purpose about her career and Luke (J. Alex Brinson) shakes things up when he starts work in the public defender’s office.
Simone Missick earned two NAACP Image Award nominations for her role as Judge Lola Carmichael. She’s known for her history-making role as the crime fighting NYPD Detective Misty Knight, Marvel’s first Black female superhero, in Netflix’s Luke Cage, The Defenders and Iron Fist. She also starred in Netflix’s sci fi anthology series Altered Carbon and the independent film Jinn. Outside of film and television, Missick maintains a strong connection to the theater, having won a World Theater Award and an NAACP Theater Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in recent performances.
Prior to his role as Deputy District Attorney Mark Callan, Wilson Bethel was a regular on Netflix’s Daredevil. Before that, he played Wade Kinsella on the CW’s Hart of Dixie and was a lead on ABC’s Astronaut Wives Club. Wilson also played recurring characters on the CW’s L.A. Rangers, ABC’s Blood & Oil and ABC’s How to Get Away with Murder.
