ARMY OF THIEVES - ZACK SNYDER, MATTHIAS SCHOENHOFER AND CAST INTERVIEWS

Get ready for Zack Snyder’s prequel to his recent hit zombie film, Army of the Dead.

Army of Thieves is a romantic-heist comedy directed by Matthias Schweighöfer from a screenplay by Shay Hatten, based on a story he wrote with Zack Snyder.

Set six years before the events of Army of the Dead, this prequel sets up the beginning stages of the zombie outbreak and focuses on Ludwig Dieter in his early days of safecracking. He is hired by a mysterious woman to pull off a heist with the help of a misfit crew of aspiring thieves.

The film stars Schweighöfer, who reprises his role as Ludwig Dieter, alongside a supporting cast that includes Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, and Stuart Martin.

So is it important to watch Army of the Dead before checking out Army of Thieves? Zack Snyder, who directed the zombie film and produced the prequel, says no.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly Snyder says, "I don't think you need to have seen [Army of the Dead]," says the 300 and Zack Snyder's Justice League filmmaker. "It's going to be amazing, and fun for a lot of people who are going to see Army of Thieves before Army of the Dead. That, chronologically, would be the correct way to watch the movie, because it leads you to the next one. So it's an interesting path to go that way. But, of course, if you've seen Army of the DeadArmy of Thieves is a great companion [for you] to go back and fill in some of the details."

I spoke with Zack Snyder and Matthias Schweighoefer about working on the film and how they managed to make safecracking look sexy.

You can also watch my interviews with cast, Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Ruby O. Fee, and Stuart Martin.
