BRAZEN - ALYSSA MILANO INTERVIEW
/AlyssasMilano turns to crime writing in her steamy new thriller, Brazen.
Based on the best selling novel “Brazen Insider” written by Nora Roberts, Brazen is a crime drama that follows a mystery author as she attempts to solve the real world case of her sister’s murder.
Milano plays Grace, who after visiting her estranged sister finds her dead body in the house with no explanation. The rest of the film has Grace determined to solve the murder, with Grace using her mystery-writing skills to solve the mysterious crime.
In Brazen, her sister who is a teacher also had a side-hustle having online encounters as a dominatrix. Themes of both female empowerment and toxic masculinity are explored throughout the film.
Directed by Canada’s own Monika Mitchell (Virgin River) the movie digs deep into the dark web and webcam fantasies, but at the heart of it, Brazen is about a crime writer who fights to find her sister’s killer. Pure escapism: that has a dose of mystery and action of course… a hot neighbor for a little dash of romance.
As Milano told me , the film was shot during the pandemic, which was both very difficult and fascinating. Vast and crew had a strict lesson on how if protocol is followed, COVID can actually be prevented. They shot for three and a half months, in close quarters. Because the protocol was so strict, not one person got sick on the crew and ended up being a very satisfying experience for the actress.
Milano also got to experience her inner dominatrix, something that her real-life husband was not in any way upset about!!
I spoke with Alyssa Milano about working on the film which is NOW streaming on Netflix. Check out our cht below.
