Carter Season 2 - Jerry O'Connell Interview
/Canadians are all too familiar with actor Jerry O’Connell’s work on the hit series, “Carter.” He shoots the show in North Bay, Ontario and knows more about Northern Ontario than some of the residents!
While Canadians have already got a jump on Season 2 of Carter ( it started airing here in October on CTV ) The hit comedic series is seen on WGN in the U.S. Carter revolves around Harley Carter (O’Connell), the star of a hit detective TV show, who decides he needs a break from Hollywood. Carter returns to his sleepy hometown where he quickly discovers that his years of playing a fictional detective come in handy when he finds himself immersed in real-life mysteries.
In season two, Carter plants roots as a celebrity Private Investigator and doubles down on his fame in a world where life continues to imitate TV. But Carter will discover that the toughest cases to solve are personal ones when he finds himself embroiled in a love triangle with his best friend – a real detective – and her new police chief, played by Lyriq Bent (She's Gotta Have It), where the stakes are winner takes all.
Jerry O’Connell began his acting career at age 11 when he when he co-starred as 'Vern Tessio' in the classic Rob Reiner film Stand by Me. After graduating from NYU, O’Connell returned to feature film work. His numerous credits include the movies Jerry Maguire, Scream 2, Can’t Hardly Wait, Mission to Mars, Man About Town and most recently the big screen follow up to the cult hit television series Veronica Mars.
In 2011 O’Connell made his Broadway debut in Seminar. Equally prolific on television, he previously starred on NBC’s hit drama Crossing Jordan for six seasons as ‘Detective Woody Hoyt,’ a character that also crossed-over to NBC’s Las Vegas. Busy off-camera as well, O’Connell wrote the screenplay for and was EP of the film First Daughter. He has also directed multiple episodes of Mistresses and Andi Mack. Jerry is also starring in the upcoming Broadway production of Charles Fullers’ A Soldier’s Play with an official opening night of Jan. 21.
I spoke with Jerry O’Connell via satellite from New York about working in Canada, what fans can expect from Season 2 of his hit show, and his upcoming stint on Broadway in, A Soldier’s Play.
