CLASSIFIED - GETTING THE SCOOP FROM IMANI PULLUM and KAGISO LEDIGA

Get ready for CLASSIFIED, the new coming-of-age drama series filled with espionage and International intrigue!

The Prime Video series follows 15-year-old Ella (Imani Pullum), a student in Oakland, California. Arrested at a protest and facing serious jail time, Ella avoids incarceration thanks to her stepmother who has connections in high places. The catch? She has to move to South Africa for the rest of her school year - away from everything she has ever known.

As part of the deal to avoid jail time, Ella ( Imani Pullum) must leave her home in California and spend the remainder of her secondary education with her father and stepmother in Johannesburg, South Africa. Ella’s world is turned upside down as she navigates a very different reality than the one she has known.

Set in South Africa, Classified immerses audiences in the rich cultural landscape of the country through the experiences of the characters. Unlike many high school and coming-of-age dramas, Classified provides a unique window into an elite international school environment and the lives of its students.

While there is plenty of teenage drama to enjoy, including love triangles and cliques at school, Classified uniquely blends this more lighthearted fare with suspenseful plot twists and serious international intrigue that will keep audiences hooked from the very beginning.

I spoke with series star Imani Pullum and series creator, showrunner and Director Kagiso Lediga about this unique series, shot on location on South Aftrica.

Classified Premieres Thursday, August 22nd on Prime Video and Amazon Freevee in the U.S.
