DEAR SANTA - DANA NACHMAN INTERVIEW
/Tis the season to be jolly, and the new documentary Dear Santa brings loads of good cheer.
The feel good documentary is written and directed by Dana Nachman (Pick of the Litter) and “Batkid Begins” about the viral “Batkid” sensation,, t and shines a light on the 100-year-old-plus Operation Santa program of the United States Postal Service — from the kids who write the letters to the North Pole, to the "adopter elves" who choose a child or family to help supply the presents themselves, to Santa's Elves (a.k.a the postal workers) who sort through the letters and later deliver the gifts.
“Dear Santa” specifically follows the process surrounding the delivery of one letter that asks for something other than a toy, and the film examines the value of this American tradition and asks audiences to think about how they can make the world a better place.
Dana Nachman is thrilled that she could complete the film just in times for the 202o holiday season. Aftr a horrendous year, it’s nce to have something good to look forward to . “I have had the absolute honor of being able to work on ‘Dear Santa’ for the last 10-months. The opportunity to dive into a story that highlights the best of humanity during one of our nation’s darkest times has been an immeasurable gift. I am so thrilled that ‘Dear Santa’ will now go out into the world and be a gift for audiences everywhere.”
Dear Santa is set to release in select theaters and on-demand Dec. 4 — and just in the Saint Nick of time, too.
I spoke with Dana Nachman about working on the film and the challenges she faced putting this all together in less than a month!
