HOME BEFORE DARK - BROOKLYNN PRINCE & JIM STURGESS INTERVIEW

Brooklynn Prince and Jim Sturgess are the new dynamic duo in the Apple TV+ family series, Home Before Dark.

The duo play Matt and Hilde Lisko, father and daughter journalists who resurrect the investigation of a cold missing persons case when they move from Brooklyn back to Matt's hometown of Erie Harbor, Washington. When Hilde begins investigating the death of a neighbor — inspired by the real-life, award-winning kid journalist Hilde Lysiak — she unwittingly discovers a link to the kidnapping and disappearance of Matt's childhood best friend 31 years ago.

Jim Sturgess

British actor and singer-songwriter Jim Sturgess got his big break in 2007 when he was cast in Julie Taymor's musical Across the Universe. Since then, he’s starred in numerous films including 21 with Kevin Spacey and Laurence Fishburne; The Other Boleyn Girl with Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson; Cloud Atlas with Tom Hanks and Halle Berry; and Berlin, I Love You with Helen Mirren and Keira Knightley, to name just a few.

Brooklynn Prince

Nine-year-old Brooklynn Prince burst onto the scene with her starring role in 2017’s The Florida Project with Willem Dafoe, a role that earned her fourteen acting awards from groups such as the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Hollywood Critics Association. She also recently starred in the 2020 horror film The Turning with Finn Wolfhard and Joely Richardson, and will next star in Disney’s The One and Only Ivan with Angelina Jolie and Sam Rockwell. When she’s not acting, Brooklynn has a heart for helping others, and volunteers with Florida’s Community Hope Center to help end homelessness. She’s also an ambassador for Kidbox, and is working to help clothe a million children in need.

Jim Sturgess and Brooklynn Prince were in the middle of filming a scene on the set of Home Before Dark's second season when their Apple TV+ production, like so many others, was shut down a few weeks ago. Now, the stars are both self-isolating with their families in their Vancouver apartments — but they still manage to FaceTime every couple of days.

I spoke with them both via satellite from their homes about the new series and how their amazing chemistry brings this wonderful family series to life. Check out our interview below.
