HONOR SOCIETY - A WORD OR TWO WITH GATEN MATARAZZO

We know and love him as Dustin on Stranger Things - but Gaten Matarazzo is branching out in the new movie, Honor Society.

Honor Society is the coming of age film which follows Honor (Angourie Rice), an ambitious high school senior whose sole focus is getting into Harvard, assuming she can first score the coveted recommendation from her guidance counselor, Mr. Calvin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse).

Willing to do whatever it takes, Honor comes with a plan to take down not one, not two, but her three top student competitors, but upon falling for her biggest competition, things become complicated, to say the least. Things go awry when she attempts to take out her top competitors, only to gain affection for one of them in the process. Gaten Matarazzo, Armani Jackson, Amy Keum, and Ben Jackson Walker also star.

Matarazzo stars as Michael, one of Honor's so called competitors but unbeknownst to her, Michael isn't exactly who he seems to be.
The Stranger Things break out star has been playing Dustin on the hit series for five years and was thrilled when he was presented with the opportunity to paly Michael since it was something so completely different for him to try.

If that's not enough, Matarazzo is now back on Broadway playing Jared in the hit musical, Dear Evan Hansen. He began his career as a young boy starring on the Broadway stage in Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Les Misérables.

Our Bonnie Laufer caught up with Gaten Matarazzo to talk about his success and why he wanted to star in in Honor Society.

Honor Society starts streaming on Paramount Plus on July 29th
