Jake Gyllenhaal as Lou Bloom in, Nightcrawler

To say that Jake Gyllenhaal is intense in his new thriller, Nightcrawler is an understatement. Written and directed by Dan Gilroy it tells the story of a driven young man who stumbles upon the underground world of Los Angeles freelance crime journalism.  Gyllenhaal went all out to play Lou Bloom, practically starving himself so that he could drop 30 pounds and in one truly intense scene he ad-libbed by smashing his hand into a mirror, a stunt that cost him a number of stitches and a permanent scar. The film also stars the lovely and talented Rene Russo (Gilroy's real life wife) as a slimy news director who is more than happy to use all of Lou's creepy footage. I spoke with Jake, Rene and Dan Gilroy at the Toronto International Film Festival where the film had it's premiere. I then had the opportunity to speak with Jake and Rene again in Los Angeles a few weeks later.  I have posted ALL of the interviews below.
