JOSEPH DAVID-JONES GIVES US THE 4-1-1 ON "4400"

A cherished sci-fi series gets a second chance and a new look with, 4400.

Based on the original TV series The 4400 created by Scott Peters and Renee Echevarria, 4400 focuses on the overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people. People who vanished without a trace over the past century return to Detroit. They haven’t aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them.

The government races to understand the phenomenon, analyze the potential threat, and contain the story. Helping are an empathetic social worker and community corrections officer. They are among the civil servants that the government called upon to deal with the uncanny refugees. The new partners clash in ideology and approach but gradually find they have more in common than they thought. They’re also becoming familiar with those under their care. They’re caring for group of unwilling time travelers who are grappling with their impossible new reality. Their new reality includes the fact that they returned with a few upgrades. And there’s the increasing likelihood that someone brought back them now for a reason they’re only beginning to understand.

Among the people they are trying to help: A young mother , who has a rocky reunion with her estranged husband ; a WWI Army surgeon fresh from the Harlem Renaissance ; an influential figure from the Mississippi civil rights movement ; a black sheep born to a notable televangelist family in Chicago ; a misunderstood D-list reality TV star (Khailah Johnson); and two wildly different teens. One is a vibrant girl with a 1970s upbringing. And the other is a prescient boy (Amarr Wooten) whose origin remains a mystery.

The series stars Joseph David-Jones (Arrow), Ireon Roach (Candyman), newcomer Khailah Johnson, Brittany Adebumola (Grand Army), Cory Jeacoma (Jersey Boys), TL Thompson (Broadway’s Straight White Men), Jaye Ladymore (The Chi), Derrick A. King (Call Your Mother), newcomer Autumn Best and Amarr Wooten (Colin in Black & White).

4400 premiered on Showcase and StackTV at 10pm on Monday October 25th at 10:00pmET.
