JULIE AND THE PHANTOMS - MADISON REYES and CHARLIE GILLESPIE INTERVIEW
/Julie and the Phantoms has taken the internet by storm!! The new Netflix series is the talk of the town and it looks like it is gearing up to be the new High School Musical!!
Julie and the Phantoms is a musical comedy-drama web television series created by Dan Cross and David Hoge that premiered on Netflix on September 10, 2020. The series is based on the musical drama Brazilian television series of the same name.
The series follows Julie as she works through the grief surrounding her mother's death and returns to making music. She's helped by the ghost musicians of the band Sunset Curve, who died in 1995 after eating contaminated hot dogs. As Julie processes the death of her mother, the ghosts must accept their own untimely deaths and grieve the lives they left behind. After learning that the ghosts are visible as long as they perform with Julie, they form the band "Julie And The Phantoms" while all four deal with their grief.
The new show is already becoming the next big musical phenomenon. The man behind High School Musical, Kenny Ortega, created the new hit series starring 16-year-old Madison Reyes, and Canada’s own - New Brunswick born actor, 22-year-old Charlie Gillespie.
Both Madison and Charlie are humbled by the outpouring of love from the fans who are clamouring to know - is there going to be a second season?
I spoke to Madison and Charlie via ZOOM from their homes about working on the show and why they think people are connecting with it. Check out our interview below.
