LEILA GEORGE GIVES US THE LOWDOWN ON HER KILLER ROLE IN ANIMAL KINGDOM

Leila George is literally killing it on the hit series, Animal Kingdom.

The lovely and talented Leila George arrived the the Animal Kingdom family in Season four as a younger Janine “Smurf” Cody - to give viewers a back story on how and why Janine became so ruthless and passed that along to her kids.

The older Janine was played brilliantly by Ellen Barkin, but now we get to see the fabulous Leila George take on the role to give us this back story context.

In the season finale, it’s all hands-on deck as the Cody family uses all their tools, tricks, and vehicles to pull off the job of their lives and settle all scores. A deadly secret from the past is also revealed. All season, the Cody family have been dealing with the fallout from the events surrounding Smurf’s death, including family members out for revenge. With their kingdom without a leader, the Cody family’s struggle to maintain their fragile alliance, and to see which of them will come out on top. Meanwhile, they search for more information on Pamela Johnson whom Smurf made the beneficiary of her estate.

Meanwhile, looking back to 1984, witness the rise of the matriarch, as Leila George plays the increasingly volatile 29-year-old Smurf who has been forging her own path raising Pope and Julia and leading the charge on dangerous jobs with new and old friends.

Leila can previously be seen as the female lead of “The Kid,” also starring Chris Pratt, Dane DeHaan and Ethan Hawke. Prior to “The Kid”, George can be seen starring in the Peter Jackson fantasy epic “Mortal Engines”, based on the acclaimed novel series of the same name. The daughter of Vincent D’Onofrio and Greta Scacchi, George was raised in London and Sydney before moving to New York to study acting at The Lee Strasberg Institute. She currently resides in Los Angeles and last year married actor Sean Penn!

I spoke with Leila about taking on the role and how her famous parents were 100 percent behind her decision to follow in their footsteps and become an actor.
