LOSING ALICE - TALKING TO THE CREATOR AND STARS OF THE THRILLING NEW SERIES
/A new addictive Israeli series will keep you guessing and intrigued from beginning to end!
"Losing Alice" is unlike anything we have seen in a series made in Israel. While we are used to seeing shows and films from Israel about wars to the ultra-Orthodox experience to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict., Losing Alice is something completely different. The series is a woman-led show that offers a universal exploration of womanhood and motherhood.
The psychological thriller is created and directed by Sigal Avin, and follows Alice, a film director in her 40s. Alice is played expertly by veteran actress Ayelet Zurer, (Shtisel, Munich) whose life seems perfect — but we get from the very first episode something is just not right.
During a train ride back to her home after a days work, Alice meets a young woman and becomes obsessed with who she discovers is a young screenwriter named Sophie, (Lihi Koronowski).
Sophie tells her she’s a huge fan and that she’s working on an exciting new screenplay; she has even approached Alice’s husband/actor David, to star in the film. Sophie sparks something in Alice; it’s clear that Alice sees something of her younger self — a wild, promiscuous woman with no obligations, many of the things that she was that she no longer feels like she can be
Using flashbacks and flash-forwards in the audiences goes on a wild ride through the conscious and subconscious of Alice’s mind, finding a contrast between reality and the script that culminates in some very creepy and jaw-dropping interactions.
The Global premiere of “Losing Alice” is on Friday, January 22, 2021 on Apple TV+.
