LUCKY DAY - CRISPIN GLOVER INTERVIEW
/Crispin Glover is one of the most eccentric and busy actors today, famous for his quirky roles in films such as George McFly in Back to the Future, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape and River’s Edge. He currently stars in the TV series American Gods and his latest role is that of a psychotic French hit man in the new movie Lucky Day, which will be in select theaters and is also streaming on demand.
Director Roger Avary, the Oscar-winning writer of Pulp Fiction and Killing Zoe, lends his high-energy, bone-crunching style to the crime saga Lucky Day.
The film (which was shot in Toronto and Hamilton, Ontario) follows , safe cracker Red (Luke Bracey) who is gets out of prison, rejoins his wife (Nina Dobrev) and daughter and vows to go straight. But psychotic French hit man Luc ( Crispin Glover) has also come to town, seeking revenge against Red for the death of Luc’s brother - leading to a very unlucky showdown.
The story shares a similar look and feel as that of "Pulp Fiction," which won Avary an Oscar along with Quentin Tarantino for best screenplay.
In addition to being a very busy actor, Glover is also an indie filmmaker and author of several artistic books who plans to release two major personal projects next year. One of them is a film Glover says he's been developing for over a decade that will star himself and his father, actor Bruce Glover.
Glover's other project set for release next year is a book he said will touch on his issues with "Back to the Future II."
Glover starred in the original Oscar-nominated 1985 sci-fi hit "Back to the Future" as George McFly, the father of Canadian actor Michael J. Fox's time-travelling teen character.
But Glover was not in the 1989 sequel and launched a lawsuit that was settled in the '90s over the use of his likeness in that film without his permission.
Glover says that he will reveal more about "Back to the Future" in a book he's been "working on for a long time" and plans to publish next year.
I had the opportunity to chat with Crispin Glover via satellite from Los Angeles about working in Canada, his role in Lucky Day, what he has coming up next and much more.
