My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2
/Opa!! If you’re not into superheroes and are looking for something light, fun and filled with laughs then you’re in luck.
The new comedy My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 now in theatres across the countr is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
It’s been 14 years since we met Toula (Nia Vardalos)and her loving but smothering Greek family. My Big Fat Greek Wedding a surprise hit when it opened in theatres in 2002, (it raked in more than $241 million at the U.S. box office, winning the distinction of being the most successful romantic comedy of all time), so it came to no one’s surprise that a sequel was imminent… but 14 years later?
Nia Vardalos, writer, star and executive producer of the movie, has a good reason why it took so long to bring these beloved characters back to the big screen.
“I was waiting for motherhood to come my way, to explore the emotions that a mom would know because I had written that Toula and Ian were parents at the end of the first film, and I wanted to keep the story linear,” Vardalos recently told Entertainment Weekly. “The wait for the sequel is completely my fault.”
The sequel reunites cast members John Corbett, Andrea Martine, Joey Fatone, Michael Constantine, and Lainie Kazan, along with adding fresh faces like newcomer Elena Kampouris alongside Rita Wilson and John Stamos.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 revisits the Portokalos family, only to find that nearly two decades later, Toula still struggles to balance a personal life with the demands of her overbearing family.
Of course, John Corbett who plays her Anglo husband, Ian is back and while the two try to balance work, married life and a teenager daughter the romance has fizzled from their marriage.
Will they get that spark back? Will the family go one step too far in their overbearing ways? Will Toula’s father be able to fix everything with a few spritzes of Windex?
Check out the fun for yourselves this weekend to find out!
