Rachel Brosnahan Interview - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Ladies and gentleman ... if you're not familiar with Rachel Brosnahan you certainly will be in the coming months. The talented actress stars in the new series The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and all I have to say is - Rachel AND the series are simply marvelous!

Already on her way, the Emmy-nominated® Rachel Brosnahan was one of Variety’s 2016 “10 Actors to Watch.” On television, Brosnahan has had roles most notably in Netflix’s acclaimed series House of Cards and WGN’s Manhattan.

Last Winter she was seen on stage in Sam Gold’s Off-Broadway production of Othello opposite Daniel Craig and David Oyelowo, playing the role of Desdemona. While on the big screen, she was last seen in Patriots’ Day opposite Mark Walhberg and Burn Country with James Franco. Rachel is a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.

Brosnahan stars in the title role of Amazon’s new series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  the fabulous new hour-long comedy from Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

Set in 1950s New York, the show centers on Miriam ‘Midge’ Maisel; woman who has everything she’s ever wanted—the perfect husband, two kids, and an elegant Upper West Side apartment perfect for hosting Yom Kippur dinner. But her perfect life suddenly takes an unexpected turn and Midge discovers a previously unknown talent—one that changes her life forever. She charts a course that takes her from her comfortable life on Riverside Drive, through the basket houses and nightclubs of Greenwich Village as she storms the world of stand-up comedy…a course that will ultimately lead her to a spot on Johnny Carson’s couch.

The show also stars Tony Shalhoub as Midge’s father, Marin Hinkle as her mother,Alex Borstein as Susie, the bar manager intent on turning Midge into a comedy star and the fabulous Canadian actor Luke Kirby who plays Lenny Bruce!

I can't say enough about Brosnahan's performance on this show. She is a force to be reckoned with especially during her stand up scenes. She's a natural and truly is playing a character with such warmth and reality which makes me think this is one of the best female characters on TV today!

I spoke with Rachel Brosnahan via satellite from New York about working on this show, her thoughts on  stand up comedy, her time on House of Cards and much more! Check out our interview below.
