THE BOYS - NATHAN MITCHELL TALKS "BLACK NOIR"
/Have you ever wondered what it might be like to play a lead character in a hit TV series who doesn’t speak ONE word and has a full costume? Well, meet Nathan Mitchell, one of the stars of the THE BOYS!
Mitchell who is a native of Mississauga, Ontario was beyond thrilled when he got the role of Black Noir.
Throughout The Boys Season 1, Black Noir remained one of the most mysterious characters on the show. Now that Season 2 has concluded it is safe to say that Noir remains an enigma.
Besides a small reveal, we learned basically nothing about him throughout the latest eight episodes. That’s something the actor behind the black mask says that’s exactly how it is intended.
Fans who have read The Boys comics on which the series is based know that Noir has a quite a huge presence in the original story. But the series adaptation has taken liberties with the material in a way that we see a different story for Black Noir.
Mitchell has been having a blast playing this anti-superhero who is a complete mystery. It’s pretty hard to be anything else when you never take your mask off or talk. Yet Mitchell has been brilliant being able to convey Noir’s feelings and actions.
Nathan was born in Canada and is of Jamaican and Trinidadian heritage. He received his post-secondary education at Ryerson University’s Radio and Television program. And he finished that program by writing, producing, and starring in an original pilot.
Nathan has been fortunate enough to be working consistently. He is best known for his recurring role on Supernatural.
Other numerous credits include: guest stars on Arrow, Motive, a lead role in the movie Marine V. He also had a and a Supporting Lead in the movie Twist of Fate, for which he received an award nomination. He is also an accomplished martial artist and a former national sparring champion which came in very hand for his role as Black Noir.
I spoke with Nathan about playing the mysterious Black Noir and the challenges he faced.
The Boys – Season 1 & 2 are now streaming on Amazon Prime.
