THE CROWN - AN AUDIENCE WITH IMELDA STAUNTON and JONATHAN PRYCE

All hail the Queen and Prince! The much anticipated Season 5 of The Crown is upon us with new actors taking on the Royal roles.

The fifth season of The Crown, which follows the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II, can now be seen on Netflix.
It is the first season of the series to be released following both the death of Prince Philip on 9 April 2021 and the death of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September 2022.

Imelda Staunton stars as Elizabeth, along with main cast members Jonathan Pryce (Prince Phillip) , Lesley Manville (Princess Margaret , Jonny Lee Miller, Dominic West ( Prince Charles), Olivia Williams ( Camilla Parker-Bowles) and Elizabeth Debicki ( Princess Diana).

The new season brings the British royals to the 1990s, which is no secret, a very turbulent and trying time for Queen Elizabeth and her family. In fact, the late monarch declared 1992 an “annus horribilis” (Latin for “horrible year”), as it was the year in which three of her four children were separated from their spouses and an absolutely devastating fire destroyed parts of Windsor Castle.

There has already been plenty of outcry from naysayers claiming that the series is disrespectful to the Queen and the monarchy, but folks, we MUST remember that this is fictionalized version of what might have happened behind closed doors.  The historical events are accurate as played out in the public eye, but what really happened in private, we will never know.

I spoke with Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce about taking on the most daunting roles of their careers.
