The Longest Ride: Scott Eastwood takes the Reins
/Move over Clint, there's a new movie cowboy in town and it seems he's learned a thing or two from you. Scott Eastwood, son of Mr. Clint Eastwood, is breaking out with his first leading man role in the new Nicholas Sparks book-turned-movie, The Longest Ride. Scott has actually been in a few his father's films in some smaller roles, but was billed under the name of Scott Reeves. With his inclusion in this year's "People Magazine's Sexiest Men Alive" list - Eastwood is finally embracing his famous name and is stepping out of his famous dad's shadow.
The Longest Ride is based on best selling author Nicholas Sparks' book of the same name. It features Eastwood who plays former bull-riding champion Luke Collins and college student Sophia (Britt Robertson) who fall in love, but conflicting paths and ideals threaten to tear them apart. Luke hopes to make a comeback on the rodeo circuit, and Sophia is about to embark on her dream job in New York's art world. As the couple ponder their romantic future, they find inspiration in Ira (Alan Alda), an elderly man whose decades-long romance with his beloved wife withstood the test of time.
I spoke with Scott Eastwood and his budding co-star Britt Robertson ( she will be seen next in Tomorrowland opposite George Clooney) recently in New York about working on the film and finding their on-screen chemistry. I also had the opportunity to chat with co-stars Alan Alda, Oona Chaplin, author Nicholas Sparks and director George Tillman. All of the interviews can be seen below.
The Longest Ride opens in theaters on April 10th, 2015
