Dan Brown fans can rejoice. There’s a new Robert Langdon on the small screen and he’s a charmer!

Based on Dan Brown’s international bestselling thriller The Lost Symbol, the new series follows the early adventures of Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon (Ashley Zukerman, Succession). Here, Langdon must solve a series of deadly puzzles to save his kidnapped mentor and thwart a chilling global conspiracy.

The series stars Valorie Curry (Blair Witch), Sumalee Montano (10 Cloverfield Lane) and Rick Gonzalez (Arrow). Other actors in the show include Eddie Izzard (Ocean’s Thirteen) and Beau Knapp (Seven Seconds). Executive producers include Dan Dworkin, Jay Beattie, Dan Brown, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Samie Kim Falvey, and Anna Culp.

Of course, we are all familiar with Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks portrayal of Langdon on the big screen in films like The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons but Zukerman gives us a younger and much different incarnation of the much loved symbologist. Zukerman had five books and three films to look to as source material. He says that what clinched it for him was a piece of advice from Author Dan Brown himself gave. And it really gave him insight into the character.

The Lost Symbol premieres on Showcase TV and StackTV in Canada on October 11th.

I caught up with Ashley Zukerman to get the lowdown on the new series and to find how Dan Brown put him at ease about taking on this iconic character.
