THE SLEEPOVER - ENUKA OKUMA INTERVIEW
/Need a fun filled family friendly movie to watch? Check out The Sleep Over now streaming on Netflix.
The Sleepover is an action packed comedy directed by Trish Sie, from a screenplay by Sarah Rothschild. It stars Sadie Stanley, Maxwell Simkins, Malin Åkerman, Ken Marino and Joe Manganiello.
Also featured in the film is Canada’s own Enuka Okuma who is best known to TV audiences from hr role in the series, Rookie Blue as Officer Traci Nash. The film follows siblings Clancy and Kevin who discover that their seemingly normal mom is actually a former high-end thief in the witness protection program. Malin Akerman plays the suburban mom whose criminal past is the trigger of the mayhem in the movie.
Akerman’s Margot and her husband Ron (Ken Marino) are kidnapped when her old gang wants her to pull one more jewel heist. It’s up to their kids (Sadie Stanley and Maxwell Simkins) to try to rescue them with the help of their two best friends (Cree Cicchino and Lucas Jaye).
Okuma gets to play a baddie in the film and has a pretty awesome butt kicking fight scene with fellow Canadian Malin Akerman.
The two choreographed the scene but Okuma admits Malin had way more experience with fight scenes due to her role in Watchmen. Still, she held her own and the actresses ended up having a really great time!
I spoke with the lovely and talented Enuka Okuma about working on the fim, her favourite Netflix binge and much more. Check out our interview below.
THE SLEEPOVER IS CURRENTLY STREAMING ON NETFLIX.
