TYLERS PERRY'S FAREWELL PLAY and ASSISTED LIVING - DAVID AND TAMELA MANN INTERVIEW
/Gospel singer Tamela Mann and her actor husband David Mann are two of Tyler Perry’s favorites. And together the husband-and-wife team are starring in two of his newest projects…Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Play and Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living.
Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Farewell Play is Perry’s final stage run as Madea where he pulls together some of his audience’s favorite characters for a family gathering. Madea, Mr. Brown (David Mann), Cora (Tamela Mann), and Aunt Bam are all under one roof for over two hours of pure joy. Madea is in rare form, as she tries to be a support for her great-grandchildren, and daughter Cora. While at her granddaughter’s home, Madea uses her combination of tough love and old southern wisdom to help the family navigate their new normal.
In Tyler Perry’s Assisted Living, after losing his job, Jeremy (Na’im Lynn), a patriarch of a young family with teenage children, decides to move to the backwoods of Georgia to help his crazy grandfather. Grandpa Vinny (J. Anthony Brown) has foolishly purchased a terribly run-down home for the elderly and he is in way over his head, but comedy ensues as Mr. Brown (David Mann) and Cora (Tamela Mann) show up at the right time as needy investors.
Tamela Mann is a Grammy Award winner, actress, songwriter, producer, and businesswoman. She is well known for playing the role of Cora Simmons in several Tyler Perry projects. David Mann is an award winning actor known for his role as Mr. Brown in many Tyler Perry projects.
The husband and wife team has starred together in the NAACP Image® Award-winning docu-series “The Manns” and the hit comedy “Mann & Wife.” In 2018, the Manns released their first book and joint album, Us Against the World: Our Secrets to Love, Marriage, and Family.
I spoke with David and Tamela Mann about their latest projects, working with Tyler Perry and if this really is the last time we will see Medea in action.
