A Christmas Carol - Guy Pearce Interview
/Guy Pearce is ringing in the holidays with a dark take on the Dickins’ classic, A Christmas Carol. He gives a bitter new bite to greedy Ebenezer Scrooge in this remake from FX and BBC.
From a partnership between FX and BBC One, this new adaptation of Charles Dickins’ timeless classic will deliver a darker and more humanistic take on the beloved tale. It delves into the disparate lives of the ‘Have and Have-Nots’ while seeking to answer the deeper questions about what makes a person become so profoundly selfish and can one ever truly find redemption?
A Christmas Carol was filmed in London and written by Steven Knight, directed by Nick Murphy, with actor Tom Hardy and Ridley Scott among the executive producers. As 'Ebenezer Scrooge', Guy Pearce is a bitter old man who despises the Christmas holiday. Over the course of Christmas Eve night he is visited by three ghosts to show him his past, present and future. The film’s star-studded ensemble cast also features Andy Serkis, Tom Hardy, Stephen Graham and Charlotte Riley.
Guy Pearce is an English-born, Australian actor, musician, singer and songwriter. His many varied roles include the films The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, L.A. Confidential, Memento, The Count of Monte Cristo, The King's Speech, Prometheus and Iron Man 3. He has won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in Mildred Pierce and received nominations for Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and AACTA Awards. He has played the title role in the TV adaptations of the Jack Irish stories by Australian crime writer Peter Temple since 2012.
