BELFAST - CATCHING UP WITH CIARÁN HINDS

Belfast is a stunning film getting a lot of attention from audiences and critics!

Hail to Irish actor Ciarán Hinds on his Best Supporting Actor nomination for his beautiful and powerful performance in, Belfast.

When Ciarán Hinds accepted the role of ‘Pa’ in Kenneth Branagh’s fictionalized memoir Belfast, he isnitial reaction was that of pride and honour to step into the writer-director’s personal story, and to be cast opposite Judi Dench.

Belfast centers around Buddy—played by breakout Jude Hill—a character based upon Branagh’s young self, growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland.

Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast has landed five nominations for the Oscars 2022 awards with nods for Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture as well as Best Supporting Actress and Best Supporting Actor.

Judi Dench has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Branagh’s Belfast and Ciarán Hinds has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor. Hinds also nominated for his part at the Bafta, the Globes and Critics Choice.

Hinds has played roles ranging from the villainous to the heroic, starring in feature films including The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover (1989), Persuasion (1995), Oscar and Lucinda (1997), Road to Perdition (2002), Munich (2005), Amazing Grace (2007), There Will Be Blood (2007), In Bruges (2008), Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (2008), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), Silence (2016), First Man (2018), and Belfast (2021), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

He is also known for his voice roles in the animated film Frozen (2013), and its 2019 sequel. He also portrayed Steppenwolf in Zack Snyder's Justice League (2017) and its director's cut released in 2021.

His television roles include Gaius Julius Caesar in the series Rome, DCI James Langton in Above Suspicion, and Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones. As a stage actor Hinds has spent periods with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre, and six seasons with Glasgow Citizens' Theatre,[ and he has continued to work on stage throughout his career. In 2020, he was listed at number 31 on The Irish Times list of Ireland's greatest film actors
