LORELEI - JENA MALONE and PABLO SCHREIBER INTERVIEW

Jena Malone returns to the screen in Lorelei, a tale about a young mother who needs more in her life and a long lost love who eventually helps make it happen.

Lorelei stars Jena Malone as Doloris and Pablo Schreiber as Wayland. We first meet Wayland as he is being let out of prison after serving 15 years for armed robbery.

Once released, he tries hard to make an honest living and get his life back on track but he soon rekindles a relationship with his high school girlfriend Dolores who now is in her early 30s and a single mother with three children working as part of the cleaning staff at a motel.

Wayland moves in with Lola, as Dolores is called, and her kids. The children are resentful and give him a hard time at first — they have seen enough losers come and go from their mom’s life — but he begins to win them over.

Both Pablo and Jena give strong performances in the film, but it really is Jena who shines with the difficult and heartbreaking material she is given to work with.

I had the opportunity to chat with Jena Malone and Pablo Schreiber via ZOOM about working on the film.
