Mission Impossible: Fallout - Simon Pegg Interview
/Simon Pegg is now considered a veteran of the Mission Impossible franchise having starred in four out of the six films. The latest action packed extravaganza Mission Impossible: Fallout starring Tom Cruise is off the charts and Cruise who is known to do all of his own stunts does not disappoint.
The stunts are so extreme in this film that Simon Pegg literally feared for his pal Tom’s life! (Cruise literally broke his ankle filming one of the scenes! )
In a recent interview with Collider Pegg and co-star Rebecca Ferguson were not just in awe of what Tom wanted to do but were scared to death for him.
"You know, from being on set the day when Tom did the sequence ... he fell from the helicopter onto the cargo bag, spoiler alert! Rebecca and I were on the ground watching it and no one told us that was what was going to happen - as far as we knew, he was climbing up the rope. So, Rebecca and I were watching that going, 'I don't know why he does that ... Oh, my God! it looks like we're going home early today.'"
Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie (the first director to return to the Mission franchise) gives us a non-stop thrill ride where Ethan Hunt and the IMF team join forces with CIA assassin August Walker to prevent a disaster of epic proportions. Arms dealer John Lark and a group of terrorists known as the Apostles plan to use three plutonium cores for a simultaneous nuclear attack on the Vatican, Jerusalem and Mecca, Saudi Arabia. When the weapons go missing, Ethan and his crew find themselves in a desperate race against time to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.
Simon Pegg returns as Hunt's right hand man Benji Dunn and not only delivers the action goods he adds some much needed comic relief.
I spoke with Simon Pegg about returning to the franchise and how Tom Cruise continues to surprise (and scare) him!
