QUIBI - JEFFREY KATZENBERG INTERVIEW

Media mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg has a new project that he’s really excited about. It’s a new streaming app called Quibi - where you can watch quality content specifically to be watched on your phone!

Quibi is one of the most anticipated platform launches of the year and it’s also one of the most talked about in Hollywood. While the short-form service, which launched on April 6  the presence of ex-Walt Disney Studios chairman and DreamWorks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg is the main reason everyone is paying attention.

The other reason people are excited is due to Quibi’s lineup of projects from top stars, both in front of and behind the camera. Steven Spielberg is writing a horror drama – his first writing project since A.I. – and other stars to sign up include Steven Soderbergh, Sam Rami, Antoine Fuqua, Jennifer Lopez, Liam Hemsworth, Idris Elba, Kiefer Sutherland, Lena Waithe, Anna Kendrick, Sophie Turner, Reese Witherspoon and LeBron James.

Katzenberg’s partner in Quibi is former eBay CEO Meg Whitman, who he persuaded to join him over dinner in San Francisco, shortly after she revealed she was leaving Hewlett Packard. Whitman is overseeing the tech of the service, while Katzenberg takes care of the creative side.

The amount of content is endless, fronted by some of the biggest names in Hollywood. Plus, there is a Canadian connection that Katzenberg is mighty proud of.

I spoke with Katzenberg from his home in Los Angeles to find out more about this new app and why we need it now more than ever. Check out our interview below..
